As a Sound and Lighting Technician Intern I learned how to setup, operate, and strike sound, lighting, rigging, and audio-visual equipment of events in the Student Union, Event Center, and other campus venues. I received training and troubleshooting skills on technical equipment used for events; including: sound, lighting, rigging, staging, scoreboard, telecom, electrical, audiovisual, and video. I was responsible for learning and following the industry standard and the Student Union, Inc. policies and safety instructions. I also had to main a professional attitude and conduct at all times while setting up, operating, and striking technical equipment for events. I assisted in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of technical systems and equipment. Sometimes I managed performances and ensured that all my technical duties were performed in a professional manner for the events and complete all my other duties I was assigned. I had to be able to follow instructions while working with other people. I learned the basic understanding of sound and electronic systems, including components and signal flow. I had to learn basic electricity and lighting systems that including electrical theory and safety. I worked hard to show my supervisor that I was willing to learn while having to work with minimal supervision though the completion of assigned events.
